My Zentangle Mosaic Story

My Zentangle Mosaic Story

Almost ten years ago, ZHQ had the vision to create the world’s largest mosaic. This idea sparked many conversations and years of development and eventually evolved into what we know now as The Zentangle Mosaic App.

The Zentangle Mosaic App is a corner of the internet that exists for Zentangle artists. It is a place to share your Zentangle art, to connect with the Zentangle Community and to find inspiration for endless creativity, without the clutter and noise that exists elsewhere on the internet.

We have so much love for the app that we could talk about it for days on end, but we thought it would be fun to ask artists on the app for their Zentangle Mosaic Story and we are honored to share some of those with you here today.

Enjoy!

#MyZentangleMosaicStory #SH7 Scavenger Hunt 7 This is a tile I created many months ago. I joined Mosaic April 2024 — I was so nervous because I wasn’t very good. I remember posting my first tile nervously and started following all my now Zen Friends! WOW!!!!!!!!!! SUCH SUPPORT AND LOVE! Thank you! I then discovered #Maptangling which I now LOVE, as well as being my fave color/shades of purple, and I was also trying a couple of new tangles — and ghost tangling was new to me! I cannot express how I love the Mosaic App — I have so many ZenFriends who are so encouraging and supportive and caring ALWAYS! And from all over the world! Thank you, ZTHQ, for the gift of the Mosaic App! 💜

#MyZentangleMosaicStory, I joined the APP before becoming ZCT 42. I started tangling with letters after I saw the video of Maria using letters as patterns. I did this tile on my father’s one year death anniversary. His name is Felipe. Doing this tile made helped me honour his memory. I love the App it is definitely a source of inspiration.

#MyZentangleMosaicStory The words used in Zentangle and the comments I receive through the mosaic app give me confidence and peace of mind!

#MyZentangleMosaicStory
This is one of my tiles that I like the most. I made it for Christmas 2024, and used it as a tag for a present for my husband. I even wrote a poem on the back!

I love the Mosaic app and use it every day. I follow quite a few tanglers, and I love to see the tiles they create. I also upload almost all my tiles to Mosaic, and I use ”My mosaics” to put them in categories. That way, it is easier to find the tile I am looking for. I also have a mosaic called Inspiration. That’s where I put tiles by other tanglers, that I find inspirational. Then I can use them as a starting point when I want ideas for a tile.

MyZentangleMosaicStory #insomniacure The Zentangle Mosaic is a lovely companion during a long, sleepless night. Gazing at the Global Zentangle Waterfall is like hearing a multitude of Microns scratching on yummy tiles—it reminds me that others are awake, creating beautiful art, and I feel less alone in my insomnia. And then I pick up my own tile, place my corner dots, draw a string, uncap a Micron, and I’m soothed.

From the Blog: The Zentangle Mosaic App
Peyton on October 14, 2025:

I too look forward to my coffee and my time with Zentanglers every morning 😊 There are so many things to love about Mosaic. It’s a daily reminder of the interconnectedness of the Zentangle community. It’s my personal art gallery, too – such a beautiful and calming way to begin the day. So much encouragement and inspiration and surprise in the waterfall! All the work of my favorite tanglers – and the thrill of finding new tanglers to follow! And the options – I often use search to find and appreciate examples of tangles, surface types, and work by specific artists, I’ve used messages to contact tanglers with my questions, and the step-outs remind me of the tangle names I forget from time to time … It’s simply a tremendous resource and a daily feast. (I need to become a more regular contributor, though – I’m not diligent about taking and posting photos. Thank you to all who are better about that than I am!)

You can see more stories from tanglers my search #MyZentangleMosaicStory on the Zentangle Mosaic App.

We loved reading all of the mantras that you shared last week. The comments section on that blog will be a feel-good archive for all of us to come back to. The winner of the Mantra Band giveaway is Claire Miller. Please email help@zentangle.com with your current mailing address, and we will get your gift in the mail ASAP!

  • Lynda, I was a therapist in my previous life, and I totally agree that your thought that tangling could be helpful for mental health issues. It is definitely helping my mental health!

  • I am so thrilled with your designs. I am still a newby for lack of time. I was thinking that this work could be a release with Mental Health patients.

  • I am new to Zentangle, and am enthralled. I know no one personally who Zentangles, so have been watching you-tube videos and learning so much. I have especially enjoyed Kelli Bluen’s 15 minutes of zen. I recently discovered the waterfall, and love seeing the amazing work there. I haven’t yet figured out how to share my beginner work, but hopefully will. The waterfall is now my morning and evening source of peace and joy, as well as a delightful place to learn.
