Julie writes...
There is something inherently special about a round Zendala™ tile.
If you think about all of the different pieces of paper you encounter during the day, they are most often square or rectangular. We write on them, fold them, stack them, file them, mail them, wrap them, and scribble our thoughts and notes on them. It is almost as if they come with instructions. You see a square or rectangular piece of paper, and you might hear it say, "write here, make a list, type something important."
But, a piece of round paper?
You do not often find a round sheet of paper sitting on a desk waiting to become a grocery list or a daily reminder. You are not going to reach for a round piece of paper to print out a meeting agenda, and you probably wouldn’t file it away with the rest of your mundane documents. A circle does not neatly fit in a folder or line up conveniently with the edges of everything around it.
I think that is what makes it so special. A round piece of paper does not have a job. Rather, it invites you to play. A circle feels unexpected and asks us to think about our composition a little differently.
A Zendala tile reinforces some of the important characteristics of the Zentangle Method. Turning your tile feels natural and intuitive, and the circle gives room for your tangles to grow and radiate. There is no up or down on a round tile. There is no obvious beginning or end. There is no single way to hold it. A Zendala tile allows us to let go of some of the rules and expectations that we subconsciously bring to a piece of paper and simply… create.
A Zendala Tile is special. Unexpected, uninhibited, and waiting for you to make your first mark.

He estado trabajando muy poco, pues sufrí una caída y me lastimé rodilla, cadera y hombro. Aún con un poco de dolor, esperando pronto pueda dibujar. Gracias, por siempre a cada uno de ustedes.

Before I dived into project pack 9 I looked at the Zendala tile and was intimidated, thinking that has to be perfectly centered and NO it doesn’t of course. I know what I’m going to work on today…The playlist. Thank you for the inspiration.

Love this perspective! I always love the look of Zendala’s but I’m generally intimidated to work on them. I just need to go for it! I will check out the playlist for sure.
