"On the Third Day of Zentangle . . ."
On the third stroke of Zentangle
R and M played 'round,
With circles, white and cheerful
As more people around the world practiced the Zentangle Method, we noticed a marriage between the form of traditional Mandala art and Zentangle patterns.
This lovely combination inspired us to investigate further. A circular canvas is a perfect fit for the Zentangle concept of no up or down. It also nurtures the practice of turning your tile as you work.
We studied traditional circular patterns and developed ways to incorporate them in a Zentangle way. After much fun exploration, we made a series of pre-strung Zendala tiles with printed templates that looked like a pencil drawn string to offer suggestions, but not demands.
In early 2011, we made our first round Zentangle tile with our white Fabriano Tiepolo paper with it's familiar die-cut edge. We made them available in blank and pre-strung models.
Play along with us on this third day of Zentangle as we celebrate the birth of the white Zendala tile.

I love knowing that one tangle can be used by itself and be just as beautiful as many tangles together. Thank you!

RUMPUS and a Zendala tile makes perfect harmony. The tangle grew to fit the space in delicate fashion. The enthatching is a neat new technique in our tool box! Loving these daily learning challenges!! :)

Rumpus is a wonderful tangle. Easy, yet with plenty of potential for variation. It has all the marks of a tangle I’ll use often and with pleasure – I can tell you took your time to work this one out. Thank you.
