Thank you to everyone who joined us for the inaugural International Day of Zentangle. When we were planning how to celebrate this day, we thought it would be so much fun to invite tanglers from around the world to tangle together. Over 3,000 tanglers joined us from near and far, at all hours of the day and night as Rick and Maria taught a new tangle to celebrate the occasion.
We are thrilled to introduce and share with you the tangle idoz (International Day of Zentangle)!
If you missed our live stream, you can watch the replay here:
We are humbled and warmed by all of you who joined us to tangle together. We are grateful for all of you who have been part of this Zentangle adventure during the past twenty years. It is exciting to now mark July 15th as the International Day of Zentangle. Until next year . . . when we all stop at teatime to tangle together again.
Let us know in the comments how you celebrated the International Day of Zentangle and what it means to you. We will choose a few commenters at random to send a gift to.
P.S. A special Thank You to all of those who donated to the Zentangle Foundation. You can learn more about the Zentangle Foundation at zentanglefoundation.org.
P.P.S. Be sure to upload your tiles to the Zentangle Mosaic App with the hashtags #idoz and #idoz2024
Such a fun time yesterday, enjoying Rick & Maria and tanglers from all over the world, as they showed us the new tangle IDOZ. Love the possibilities of this one.

Thank you so much for such a fabulous session. The new tangle is beautiful and sparks so many creative ideas! It was lovely to be on live with you and everyone worldwide. I celebrated by taking the time out later in the day to draw a few different versions of Idoz, and I look forward to teaching it in my classes this week :)

Yes!
When Maria was drawing the teardrops and Rick was commenting on the process. I love the multi-communication with voice, tile, pen, ambiance, sight, breathing ♥️ rhythm.
Thank you Zentangle team 💙

I had the best day yesterday! I am an elementary school teacher on summer break so it was a full day of celebrating IDOZ, my birthday, and the kickoff to Holly Jolly July (a 12 day Zentangle-inspired Christmas workshop series)
I woke up at 6:30am to join the live stream for the first annual International Day of Zentangle at 7am! I was overjoyed to have the opportunity to learn with Rick and Maria again- it felt just like I was back in seminar! So thankful for technology to allow us to have that opportunity. The new tangle is so much fun to play with! I did 4 tiles during the session.
After breakfast, my husband and I went for a nice walk around the Stanley park seawall (Vancouver BC Canada), then I got my free birthday drink from Starbucks (an iced peach tea).
After a little nap, at 3pm I joined Sheila Grube and the Holly Jolly July crew to kick off the first day! It was so much fun reuniting virtually with other tanglers on zoom, including CZTs from my seminar year #26! (We are excited to reunite in person at ZenAgain2025)!
After the workshop, my husband, my mom and I went to my favourite beach in West Vancouver BC Canada to have a lovely sushi dinner, gluten free birthday treats and watch the sunset! My mom is a tangler too so I told her all about the live stream and she is excited to try out the new tangle, too! Overall, it was such an amazing day that left me filled with so much appreciation and gratitude for all the love and opportunities I have to be creative! I’m so excited for this coming year and all that it has to offer!

It’s always a great feeling to listen to your words, Rick and Maria, and tangle at the same time.
I appreciated and I’m grateful for the wonderful chance to meet a significant part of the magnificent Zentangle community and create together.
Thank you so much.

I had so much fun tangling along with Rick and Maria…and everyone in the chat. It chatted so fast it was hard to read at times. It felt like Christmas morning and my birthday all at once because of the joy I felt. Learning the new tile was special. The day before, 9 of us CZT’S got together and celebrated with laughter, food, and tangles.

我是亞洲認證第4期的Linda.

At the moment I‘m in Italy ( I’ from Germany)and first I didn’t get the 2nd Mail with the Information. But finally it worked and I was so grateful to be able to join and to tangle simultaneously with so many Tanglers all over the world. Big thanks to Maria and Rick for this wonderful opportunity given so warmheartedly to all.
Looking foreward to 15th July 2025 😉.

When I joined a CZT led group at the library in 2017, I could not have know I’d be tangling 7 years later. In my retired years ZT has inspired me, relaxed me, given me a quiet time each day (at times all day) to reflect & enjoy. I certainly could not have known I’d become a CZT (41). Yesterday’s live event remined me of the on-line seminar, I thought that, with 193 attendees was remarkable. Well, IDOZ was awesome with 1000s of around the world on chat. Of course the new IDOZ tangle is a bonus. I’m finishing a few projects at the moment, but want to explore more possibilities of IDOZ. Thank you Rick and Maria for your inspirations and bringing us (tanglers) together.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Zentangle there was a live stream on YouTube. There were over 1,900 people watching and tangling at the same time, incredible! Maria annd Rick introduced a new tangle #Idoz (which is short for International Day Of Zentangle). It started with Rick’s version and happily Maria showed her unique version. I loved to see the two of you. There is so much to add in this tangle. Thank you for all these years, the great community and I am happy and proud to be part of it! Whoop whoop!
