Requirements

We’ve been known to say that the only requirements to attend CZT training are passion and gratitude. While that sentiment has not changed, the depth of content of our program has. This is a seminar on HOW TO TEACH the Zentangle Method and is not a beginner’s class. A person who wishes to attend the training should be familiar with the Zentangle Method and terminology and must be proficient in speaking, reading and understanding the English language.

Once you are a CZT, Zentangle does NOT require any continuing education or fees or dues.

2025 Certified Zentangle Teacher Training At-a-Glance

Presented by the founders of the Zentangle® Method, Rick Roberts, Maria Thomas, along with daughters Molly Hollibaugh and Martha Huggins and their wonderful Zentangle staff.
A 3-day program, taught in ENGLISH, is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the philosophies behind the Zentangle Method of drawing.
All students receive a complete supply kit to attend the seminar, overflowing with top notch artist's papers and tools and more!

We now be offer documentation for those seeking Professional Development Points (PDPs) or similar credits. Upon request, we can provide proof of your 18+ hours of CZT Seminar attendance. Some of our CZTs have already been successful in applying for these credits with their experience.

Online students-A day in the life

Your journey truly begins when you receive your meticulously curated seminar supply kit. You will want to open it when it arrives and follow the detailed instructions on getting organized. From that moment on you will appreciate the care and value we place on using beautiful tools and materials and how they set the “table” for a successful training experience.

Online students will be invited to join a group Zoom meet-up with Zentangle staff prior to the seminar. This is an opportunity to ask questions, network, and get to know some of your fellow online students.

The CZT seminar is a LIVE EVENT taught in ENGLISH and attendance at all sessions is required for certification. The seminar will begin bright and early on Monday morning with online “doors” opening at 8:00am Eastern Time Zone US. This gives everyone plenty of time to get acquainted with the learning environment and any technical glitches taken care of. Zentangle staff are there for you on the chat feature and via email. For three days we will be together from approximately 9am to 6:30pm with ample breaks throughout the learning day. We conclude on Wednesday between 4:00-pm- 5:00pm. A detailed schedule is provided in your seminar supply kit.

The seminar is delivered via webinar format which means you will not be seen or heard during the learning sessions. There will be optional Zoom meetups where you can see and hear other students and Zentangle staff at the conclusion of each day.

In-person students-A day in the life

Your journey begins when you arrive at the Mystic Marriott Hotel. We feel that our first day together should be used to settle in and get acquainted with the beautiful surroundings and possibly a new time zone. We will host relaxed, optional activities and opportunities to meet and connect with your classmates and Zentangle staff, mixing tangling fun with plenty of time for rest so that we are all at our best for Monday morning class. Zentangle staff will be ready to greet you after 2:00pm and your hotel room will be ready by 4:00pm. Our coveted Zentangle store will be open to get everyone inspired. The adventure continues with a special warm-up class at 5:00pm (to get our creative wiggles out!) followed by a welcome dinner celebration and networking activities.

The remaining days are dedicated to class time from 9:00am to 6:30pm (Wednesday concludes at 4:30pm). There are ample breaks throughout the days to keep us all refreshed and motivated. During the evenings, we offer open tangling, shopping, puzzles, and more! Throughout it all, energized conversations are occurring, and magical alliances are forming, you will meet and make friends with wonderful people from all around this world! Important experiences occur during CZT seminars that can't be conveyed with written words. Even though we have now taught over 40 CZT trainings, each one evolves with the personality of the group. That is why some CZTs return time and time again!

Although we are finished with the program on Wednesday between 4:00pm-5:00pm, many people choose to extend their stay to absorb and bask in the week's events with their fellow CZTs. We encourage our attendees who do decide to stay to venture out and explore the amazing seaside city. Mystic is full of tangle inspiring nautical and local history. Information on how to extend your stay will be shared after you register.

We believe that it is important to have fun, be playful as well as professional, and treat your students with the utmost respect and generosity. We do our best to model this behavior and inspire it in those who are considering teaching the Zentangle Method. People who have been to a seminar will understand what we're talking about.
We also know how important it is for you to meet and talk with and understand the people behind this company you are planning to work with. At seminar you will meet and get to know us, our staff and our family, whether in person or online from your home. We do our best to bring you into our Zentangle family and know you will be inspired when you leave.
Magic happens at these events! There is a dynamic when a group of wonderful people with a shared vision gather in common purpose. It's exciting to be a part of that! Inspirations cascade over insights and shine so brilliantly and beautifully that everyone can see it. We treasure every moment.

Here are two lists of what we can and cannot do.

We can:

Provide you with tools and resources to create a thriving Zentangle business. More and more people are teaching Zentangle workshops as an important source of income.
Provide a wonderful experience at seminar. Many people come (and come back!) for the camaraderie and immersion in an atmosphere of Zentangle creativity, inspiration and friendship.
Provide an ongoing system of support through newsletters, our CZT Resource center, and through our private CZT forum, facilitating a network with each other.
Provide access to make an editable CZT Profile listing on our website to all CZTs in good standing for students to find you.
Offer most of our Zentangle products to you at discounted prices.
Make every effort to make all our strategic decisions around how it will support and impact our CZTs.
Provide advance notice and availability of new products to CZTs as we are able.
Provide a CZT only newsletter full of inspiring content.
Invite you to join us in this wonderful, exciting adventure. While no one can promise it, we continually hear inspiring stories of gratitude from people who have found a CZT through our website and it has changed (or saved) their lives. The gratitude that you can experience in teaching the Zentangle method has become a major focus in many CZTs' lives . . . it is a source of joy, focus and income.

We cannot:

Guarantee you'll make money . . . even colleges and universities will not guarantee that.
Teach you how to run a business or handle your taxes . . . it's beyond the scope of our seminar.
Assign territories . . . people move and there are so many applications for teaching the Zentangle Method within any one area: Schools, businesses, clubs, health care, etc.
Promise that a non-CZT won't offer competing classes . . . While we vigorously pursue trademark and copyright infringement, we can only act within established legal frameworks and within our financial and time resources. We prefer to emphasize education of the marketplace and to provide students with the very best Zentangle experience possible. This is paying great benefits as people and organizations increasingly value the instructions and classes taught by a CZT over people who are not trained by us. Once you are a CZT- use that title to set yourself apart. Shout it from the rooftops!

Registration Process and Payment

Please select your attendance option and complete the registration form. Your enrollment deposit is required to complete the registration and secure your place in the class. Once the form is filled you will be directed to the payment page. Please do not submit the form unless you plan to complete the payment. All enrollment fees are non-refundable. An invoice reflecting this payment will be emailed to you separately. Balance payments are due 60 days from your registration unless otherwise noted on your invoice. If you do not receive either of these please check your spam folder first and then email martha@zentangle.com so we can get you the information you need.
