Happy Thanksgiving 2024

Happy Thanksgiving 2024

The more grateful I am
The more beauty I see
-Mary Davis

Maria writes...

This quote spoke to me in the softest voice, with no finger pointed. It brought a “hmmmm” feeling in my heart. I changed it just a bit, so we could all feel the warmth of this quote every day, not just Thanksgiving.

Gratitude is 2 of the 8 steps in the Zentangle Method. It was that important to us.

Rick adds...

Perhaps this is one of the reasons people find so much benefit in practicing the Zentangle Method . . . fully one quarter of the method is Gratitude!

Watch below as Maria letters this beautiful piece!

Share with us in the comments what you are grateful for this year.

With Gratitude and Appreciation,

Rick, Maria, Molly, Martha and everyone at Zentangle HQ.

  • In quiet lines, my heart takes flight

Through tangle’s weave and shades of light
A gentle path, to calm my mind
Each stroke a gift, I feel alive
For Zentangle’s joy, a stumbled step, now firmly placed
In this small art, such boundless grace… my gratitude lives forever!

  • I am so grateful to my yoga teacher, Willi, who introduced me to Zentangle 7 years ago and further to the inspirational, kind, loving and caring community that Zentangle opened to me. From Maria, Rick, Martha and Molly to all the staff at HQ and to our worldwide Z community, I wish you all a peaceful holiday season. Thank YOU!!

  • Gratitude fills my every day. Health struggles continue, and being able to tangle [or tango!] my way through reminds me to look at the bigger picture. Grateful for the weather, whether it is rain or sun. Grateful for those I call friends, and my medical team. Grateful for research and the unending quest to better address this crazy blood cancer. Grateful for our community of ZENTANGLE!

  • I attended my first zentangle class today and am so grateful for the beautiful teaching my teacher Adeline has imparted. I am grateful to be told “its ok”, “go with the flow”, “everything is fine”.
I am so grateful to be with my classmates. After two hours, we made a mosaic of our very own art. The joy and amazement on our faces reflect our gratitude.

Thank you to Rick, Maria and all the teachers out there. God bless!

  • I am grateful for everything, my life, my family, friends, work, art and all the little things expressed and unexpressed. Gratitude is like a fuel which makes one propel faster and in the right direction.

  • For 70 years I was blessed with loving parents who enriched my life daily. Their passing in February ends a generation, leaving me, the eldest daughter, to carry on the family traditions and treasure the heirlooms. I am grateful for so much, but this Thanksgiving I will be especially grateful for my parents.

  • As I turn 50 next week, I’m grateful for my age! I’m really thankful for all that these years have given me – my loved ones(who got added in my journey and those whom I lost), my education, my experiences (good and not so good ones), my art….. everything that makes me who I am.

  • Thank you for sharing this lovely artwork. This year I’m grateful to have the ability to spend 3 quality weeks with my mom as we get hospice help for her, and then spend thanksgiving with my family. Just sorry I won’t be spending it with my husband.

  • I have to say, I absolutely loved the sound of the paper in the video of Maria writing out the thankfulness quote. I also loved listening as well as watching her write. I could almost smell the paper and the ink! I’m very grateful for my art studio which is full of wonderful materials and Zentangle drawings. It has windows on 3 sides and I look out at woods, our bridge, a creek, and often deer, a large hawk, ducks, a groundhog, woodpeckers and lots of birds. I’m also grateful for my husband who worked really hard to get the studio built!

  • I sat silently, wrapped up in the scratching of your pen across the fibers of the paper, as you wrote these beautiful, heartfelt words. I was grateful I could hear, and see you putting the finishing touches on this lovely work of yours. But mostly I am grateful that your hand is healing so that we can witness your creativity once again.

With much appreciation and gratitude for all the joy you bring to us.

  • I’m so grateful for all the skills and techniques I’ve learned through Zentangle, all the amazing people I’ve connected with, for my friends and family, and for art in uncertain times.

  • I am so grateful for Zentangle. It saw me through the recent dreadful storm that left us without power or even cellphone service for more than 4 days. The wonderful calming effect of tangling meant so much to me during that stressful period. Enormous trees completely uprooted and dumped on homes, vehicles, roadways and gardens.
More than grateful that we came through in one piece, unhurt and safe.

Happy Thanksgiving Rick, Maria and the entire Zentangle family. I am so grateful for you all.

  • I’m grateful to see nature’s beauty and in turn, the pieces artists create.

I’m grateful as I see my friends, neighbors, family and even those I don’t know, smile at one another.

I’m grateful for the gifts that practicing Zentangle has provided to me. So again, thank you Maria, Rick and the entire ZENTANGLE family.

  • I am very grateful that, despite all the bad things happening right now all around the globe, I find myself surounded by people who love me just as much as I love them. I am grateful for the baby my friend gave birth to just 2 month ago. She teaches me to stay in the moment and to treasure it.
I’m grateful for my students, who constantly surprise me with their joy and creativity.
And I’m grateful for all the small things that give me comfort when thousands of “what if”s flood my mind and threaten to trigger another anxiety attack.

I hope you all are safe out there. Happy and healthy. Or at least mostly okay. It’s so precious.
