It came to me on this beautiful, rainy morning, that it would be such fun to have an exhibit of our favorite tile from our own collection of Zentangle art. I would be honored to see these masterpieces but also to hear why it is your favorite.
So, I’m asking you to look through your private collections and repost your nomination along with a story of what made you choose it. It could be nonsensical to all but yourself, but we would love to hear it nevertheless.
What made me think of this was a casual glance at a large frame full of tiles that lives on our porch. I see it every day, but today, I focused in on one tile. It was like no others existed, but this one. I went over and grabbed it off the wall so I could study it.
A simple, fengled composition on a white 3 1/2” tile. I must have thought it needed more drama, so I painted in the background in a rich deep walnut/peat ink that is ever present on my studio desk. Once dry, I can see I added some sort of green pencil to enhance the plain brown ground. Bits of yellow added the pleasant glow it demanded. And I guess that was it. I forgot to sign the back, so I’m not sure when I did this. I’ll return it to my frame of glory (just kidding!) All the tiles seem to come and go Willy Nilly, except that one. Huh.
Please hashtag your tile on the mosaic app #FavoriteOfMine
And enjoy the tiles and stories of all our fellow artists. I, for one, cannot wait!

Choose ONE? – one out of hundreds… no, probably thousands. I made dozens of valentine bookmarks for the granddaughter (with the requirement they all had to be different), dozens of holiday tags several years running, 80 nametags for one event, hundreds of tiles and bookmarks that I abandoned… Choose ONE… WOW! I went through my storage binder then past photos for those that have moved on. I picked out this one then that one and realized that I was subconsciously wishing I could bring back the owl I made for my granddaughter and decided it was calling to me so that must be “The ONE”. While I couldn’t lay hands on the actual piece (it doesn’t belong to me anymore), I was lucky enough to find the photo. It has been uploaded to the Mosaic App. Thank you Maria for sending me on that look back journey. Trying to pick “The One” is hard but it takes you down Memory Lane and makes you think about WHY you like one over the other.

This is just one proof that the beauty lies in the simplicity. It’s really a magical drawing. ✨
Regarding the challenge, it’s a tough one for me. I’ll need to think and yet I believe that the solution to this question does not lie in overthinking. 🙃

Was difficult but I met the challenge. I must say it made me realize how much I love the Mosaic app and seeing other people’s tiles too. I have tons of favorites there. There’s so many talented artists and they inspire me. I take screenshots of some of my favorite tiles that I find there. They give me ideas for some of my work. I am never stuck for something to draw or tangle. For me it is pure joy to draw and seeing all that fresh beautiful generous art from all over the world in one place just renews my faith in humanity and makes my heart swell.

#FavoriteOfMine just posted. From Project Pack 2, day 2. It’s 3-dimensional. I had only heard about Zentangle when I saw 12 Days of Zentangle PP02. It was Christmas time in 2018. I bought it and loved the challenge to cut tiles, tangle black on white, white on black, gold on both. I was inspired to sign up for CZT 32. My favorite way to tangle is the original 3.5” white tile with a Micron 01 and they travel well. Whenever people ask me about Zentangle I immediately think of this tile. Looking forward to see what others show on the Mosaic.
