Maria writes...
Thank you to all our tangle friends around the world for joining us on July 15, 2025, for our second annual International Day of Zentangle.
For years, I had dreamed of an event like this. As Zentangle had been graced with an absolutely amaZing international presence, our community yearned for more ways to come together.
The images and sounds of the emotional “We Are the World” concert from the 1980's echoed in my thoughts. I thought, what if our Z world came together to tangle at the same time, all over the world? What effects would it have on all of us as artists, creatives, heck, just people in general? Well, just think about what it did just for you... multiplied times a gazillion, and see how that would “color” our world.
So, that’s what Rick and I and Martha and Molly decided to do. Gather with all of you... and tangle.
We are so humbled by the responses and excitement it created for our Zentangle community. Rick and I had a great time knowing you were there listening and enthusiastically tangling along with us. In fact, we were so excited that we forgot to show a few images we had created just for the IDOZ event...

And most importantly, we wanted to thank the many generous tanglers who contributed to the Zentangle Foundation. The Foundation provides monetary support to organizations and individuals to share the Zentangle Method in their communities, supports research studies to evaluate and quantify the benefits of the Zentangle Method, and supports people in becoming Certified Zentangle Teachers by providing scholarships. Your gifts will make many lives better!
Again, thank you for taking your precious time to join us. We hope to see you again next year (if not sooner)!
P.S. If you missed our time together, you can rewatch it here.

Yes, we all live in gratitude for you, Rick and Maria. It was wonderful to have a time to tangle with you. In addition, it gave me some sentences I can use in my classes. I do remind my students to breathe, etc. but you said some other things that I think I will be saying to my students.
I’ve been using the letter "C ", and you were using “parentheses” to describe the line connecting the ribs in Huggins. I can now say both of those things.
I hadn’t heard the spoken story before so that was fun.
The last thing that I hadn’t heard before was “the buffing of the tortillion”.
It’s always wonderful. Thank you. Thank you for Zentangle. Thank you for International day of Zentangle. Thank you for the time spent tangling live with you on YouTube.

Thank you Maria for having the wonderful idea in the first place. Both events have been amazing and reignite all my passion for Zentangle over again. So fired up to keep teaching and spreading Zentangle to more and more people.
